A Voice in the Dark

Before she was a voice in the dark, Echo was a woman who loved too fiercely.

She lived in a world of sun and shadow, of wildflowers and laughter, of a love so deep it defied the laws of the universe. She was human once—alive, warm, and whole. She loved a man named Kael, a poet with storm-cloud eyes and songs in his heart. And when death came for him, she refused to let him go.

She broke the rules. She shattered the balance. She pulled his soul back from the edge of eternity.

But some things cannot be undone.

Kael’s soul was destroyed. Echo was condemned to an eternity of servitude, bound to the Gauntlet—the eighteen levels of Hell where souls are tested and judged. For centuries, she watched them try and fail. She watched them fall to emptiness, bureaucracy, self-doubt, and despair. She watched them become statues on the bridge, echoes in the dark.

She lost hope. She lost faith. She lost herself.

Until a hollow man arrived. A man who jumped to escape the emptiness. A man who refused to accept the terms. A man named Cain.

This is Echo’s story.

The story of her fall, her punishment, and her first glimpse of hope. The story of the voice in the dark—the woman who watched, waited, and fell in love with a man who taught her that meaning is made, not found.
